This North American premiere from celebrated playwright <strong>Levi Holloway<\/strong>\u00a0(Broadway\u2019s\u00a0<em>Grey House<\/em>) and Punchdrunk\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Felix Barrett<\/strong>\u00a0(<em>Sleep No More<\/em>) features illusions by Tony Award winner\u00a0<strong>Chris Fisher<\/strong>\u00a0(<em>Stranger Things: The First Shadow<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Harry Potter and the Cursed Child<\/em>). The production will play a limited engagement in STC\u2019s Harman Hall,<strong>\u00a0January 28 through February 7.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>James and Lou move from Chicago to London to escape the past\u2026but they soon discover that places aren\u2019t haunted, people are. Featuring performances by&nbsp;<strong>Cher \u00c1lvarez<\/strong>,<strong>&nbsp;Patrick&nbsp;Heusinger, Shannon Cochran<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Kate Fry<\/strong>, the North American premiere production debuts at&nbsp;<strong>Chicago Shakespeare Theater&nbsp;<\/strong>(October 8-November 7). It moves to&nbsp;<strong>Center Theatre Group<\/strong>&nbsp;in Los Angeles (November 13-December 7) before coming to&nbsp;<strong>STC&nbsp;<\/strong>in January, and finishes its run at&nbsp;<strong>American Conservatory Theater<\/strong>&nbsp;in San Francisco (February 19-March 15).<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dctheaterarts.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Paranormal-Activity-cast-800x600-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-372070\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Playwright&nbsp;<strong>Levi Holloway<\/strong>&nbsp;shared, \u201cWriting&nbsp;<em>Paranormal Activity&nbsp;<\/em>for the stage, collaborating with&nbsp;<strong>Felix Barrett<\/strong> in London \u2014 working to create an actual nightmare \u2014 has been a dream. We strived to create something impossible, mixing the familiar with the uncanny, heart with horror. Audiences have a nose for honesty on stage and little patience for anything else. They\u2019ll find it here, right alongside all the mischief we\u2019ve made to trouble their sleep.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Playing Lou and James, a couple trying to escape a sinister force, are&nbsp;<strong>Cher \u00c1lvarez&nbsp;<\/strong>and<strong>&nbsp;Patrick Heusinger<\/strong>. \u00c1lvarez has appeared regionally at such theaters as the Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, and Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, and appeared on television in shows such as <em>Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>NCIS: Hawai\u2019i<\/em>. Heusinger, who originated the role in the Leeds Playhouse premiere, has been seen on Broadway in&nbsp;<em>Next Fall<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Fiddler on the Roof<\/em>&nbsp;and starred as Lancelot in the national tour of&nbsp;<em>Spamalot<\/em>. He is also known for his work on the television shows&nbsp;<em>Gossip Girl<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Royal Pains<\/em>, and&nbsp;<em>Girlfriends&#8217; Guide to Divorce<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cast also includes&nbsp;<strong>Shannon Cochran<\/strong>&nbsp;as James\u2019 mother Carolanne and&nbsp;<strong>Kate Fry<\/strong>&nbsp;as Mrs. Cotgrave, a medium. Cochran\u2019s many credits include Steppenwolf Theatre, Lookingglass Theatre Company, and Goodman Theatre, as well as the West Coast premiere of Broadway\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Harry Potter and the Cursed Child<\/em>&nbsp;in San Francisco, and the national tours of Roundabout Theatre Company\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Cabaret&nbsp;<\/em>and&nbsp;<em>August: Osage County<\/em>. This production marks a return to the horror genre for Cochran, as she appeared in the 2002 film&nbsp;<em>The Ring<\/em>. Fry has appeared off-Broadway at Lincoln Center, and regional credits include work at Center Theatre Group in LA, McCarter Theater Center, Goodman Theatre, and Chicago Shakespeare Theater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Levi Holloway<\/strong>&nbsp;is an ensemble member of Chicago\u2019s A Red Orchid Theatre company, which debuted his plays&nbsp;<em>Grey House&nbsp;<\/em>(prior to an acclaimed Broadway run) and&nbsp;<em>Turret<\/em>, starring Michael Shannon. He is the co-founder of the Neverbird Project, a youth-based deaf and hard of hearing theatre company, and specializes in working with deaf children and creating theatre for deaf people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Felix Barrett<\/strong>&nbsp;is the founder and artistic director of Punchdrunk, conceiving and directing such groundbreaking theatrical productions as&nbsp;<em>Sleep No More<\/em>&nbsp;(a reimagining of Shakespeare\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Macbeth<\/em>),&nbsp;<em>The Burnt City<\/em>, and<em>&nbsp;Viola\u2019s Room<\/em>.
